Jean Franklin
Jean Franklin started spinning in the 1970's when she purchased her first wheel. Ten years later she was teaching spinning and had learned to weave from her aunt. In 1987, she opened the Spinner's Web in Glen Ellen, a business devoted to spinning and weaving. In 1994, she moved to El Dorado Hills and took up sheep herding with a flock registered Shetland sheep. Jean is still teaching spinning and basic fiber preparation to beginning spinners all over N California today.

Stephanie Gaustad
Author, dyer, spinner, weaver and illustrator, Stephanie Gaustad teaches across the United States and Canada. "After 35 years, I still dream fabric and love to spin. Every choice is an opportunity to learn." she says. She and her husband partner Alden Amos, live in the Sierra foothills and make textile equipment.

Linda Partsch
Linda Partsch says: I live in the Northern California East Bay area. We will not discuss the addiction to fiber. I have been teaching various crafting techniques (beading, all needle arts, and various art mediums) for almost 50 years. I took up spinning again seven years ago after forgetting my experience with a crooked low whorl drop spindle 15 years earlier. I am a production spinner, dyer, designer, and artist. My boucle yarns have been sold at Muse in Napa and under the Tactile label at Artisans in Gross Pointe, Michigan.

Mel Silva
Mel Silva’s experience with Navajo spinning is with the focus on the production of yarn for Navajo weaving. Beginning in the mid 80's, he has been aware of and immersed in the exploration of Navajo weaving and spinning. He studied with Navajo master weavers and spinners, Mae Peshlakai, Angie Maloney, in the early 90's in Colorado and New Mexico with some additional contact from Sarah Natani. More recently, as a member of the Ashtl'o Guild in the Bay Area, Mel has studied with Bruce Belknap, a founding member from the 70's and a proficient Anglo spinner in the Navajo tradition. Mel’s classes in Navajo weaving with spinning components have been held in Auburn, Grass Valley, and in Sacramento, privately offered and through the 2008 CNCH. Mel’s love for spinning in the Navajo tradition continues and grows to the present.

Renee Tully
Renee Tully has been spinning since 1999. She was born in Europe where her love for knitting started at an early age. She came to the US in 1954 and lived in New York, where she continued her knitting. With the beginning of synthetic yarn, she started to dream about spinning and upon retirement her boss gave her first spinning wheel. To be able to knit with real wool she got 2 Shetland sheep. This started RenCon Ranch, with her partner Conrad Tracy. They breed pedigree Shetland sheep and now have 14 and sell their fiber, either raw or in roving.
