Lambtown Committee
We could not bring the Lambtown, USA Festival to you without some great volunteers. All committee members and Chairpersons are volunteers. The generous contributions of their time, and the time donated by the companies they work for, are appreciated. Get to know the Committee Chairs here.
The 2008 Lambtown Organizing Committee from left to right: Dave Scholl, Wendy Matti, Ethyl Calvello, Lilly Trapp, Lynn Green, Gabrielle Menn,
Wanda Tucker, Jim Harris (guest), Steve Alexander.
National Spinning Competition Committee: Gabrielle Menn is president of the Dixon Lambtown, USA Association, and chairs several of
the spinning events committees. In addition to planning the spinner's events, Gabrielle owns a spinning and weaving business, "the Loom
Room". Gabrielle is opening a new fiber processing mill in Winters, CA in 2008. She is also mother of two lovely little girls, and wife to Curt. She
and her mother, Cheryl Woods ("Fan Faire Farms") are also instructors for classes and workshops at Lambtown.
Exhibitors Committee: Wendy Matti is new to the Lambtown Committee. She has contacted hundreds
of craft, fiber and commercial vendors from around the nation, with invitations to come to Lambtown, USA. Of the respondants, Wendy has the
task of selecting only the 75 - 80 vendors who best fit the theme of Lambtown, wool and sheep! Wendy is the Assistant Office Administrator for
R.E.Solutions, Inc.
Entertainment Committee: Dave Scholl is our Entertainment Chairperson. Dave is the editor of "Dixon's Independent Voice" newspaper, a weekly paper
that is received in every home and business in Dixon.
Food Vendor Committee: Dave also organizes the Food Vendors for Lambtown. 8 - 10 Vendors are selected each year,
who provide hot and cold food. Hot food vendors provide at least one lamb dish, often introducing lamb to patrons for
the first time.
Fine Arts Show Committee: Ethel Calvello chairs the fine arts committee again this year. An accomplished
artist in her own right, Ethel brings painters, photographers and sculptors together to display their beautiful works.
Once again, a lamb or agrticultural theme is encouraged, though you may find everything from lamb paintings to metal
boat sculptures!
Marketing Committee: Marshall Drack is Chairman of the Marketing Committee, and Co-chair of the Sponsorship Committee. Formerly the
Economic Development Director for the City of Dixon, and now General Manager of the American Legion post in Dixon. He certainly has his hands
full giving back to the community!
Lamb Rib Eating Contest & Sponsorship Committees: Dana Foss has been organized the Fiber Fair for four years. The owner of "Real
Estate Solutions", a real estate brokerage specializing in commercial, agricultural and residential properties,
Dana moved her business to the downtown in 1995. She joined the Downtown Dixon Business Association(DDBA) in 1994, and
as president in 1998 she lead the DDBA to become involved in the Festival organization.
Dana is also a spinner, having learned to spin in 2000 from Robin Lynde. It is through the generous assistance
of Robin that the first Sheep-to-shawl and wool show were brought to Lambtown in 1999. Since then, Dana has added a
skeins and garments competition and many classes in the fiber arts to the Festival.
Logistics Committee: Steve Alexander and Jim Harris have graciously volunteered to chair the Logistics Committee
again this year. Their responsibilities include obtaining all of the equipment, supplies, power, and just about
anything else needed to make the Lambtown Festival a great success.
Wool, Mohair, Alpaca and Angora Show Committee: Lynne Green is a quilter, and retired from a carreer at UCDavis. She began her
Lambtown volunteer tour in 2007, assisting in the Wool and Mohair Show. This year she has agreed to chair the committee.
Kids Activities Committee:
Jill Orr chairs the kids activities committee again this year, and anything else that might fall her way!
Not only is Jill a past City Councilmember, but she has stepped up to the plate as a Director on the Board of Directors
of the Dixon Lambtown, USA Committee Established independent of the Dixon Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Dixon Business Association, the Lambtown,
USA Committee is now its own entitiy which is self supporting with only one goal: to continue the tradition of this
great Lamb Festival in the City of Dixon.
