Judging Criteria

1. All sheep will be judged 60% on wool, 40% on conformation. The length of wool should be appropriate to show off the quality of the fleece for each particular breed. It is recommended that fine wool sheep have a minimum of 1½ inches of wool, medium wool sheep 2 inches and long wool 2 1/2 inches. Belly shearing is not recommended.

2. BEST FLEECE CLASS: Each class will have a best fleece-in show lot. All exhibitors participating in these breed shows may select one animal to compete in this class. Animal must also be shown in one of the other lots within the Class and may be a ram or ewe, yearling or lamb. Animals competing in this class will be judged on excellence of fleece only. Prize donated by Martin Dally, Super Sires, Inc.

3. Shepherd's Award: This award will be given to the consignor presenting his/her sheep in the most attractive manner throughout the Festival. Farm signs and promotional material should be used. Donated by Colleen Simon. Fiber Confections.

4. Grand Champions: The champions in each division may compete for Grand Champion Ram and Grand Champion Ewe. Sheep competing for this award will be judged on percentage of excellence for their breed.

5. Supreme Grand Champions: The Grand Champions Ewe and Grand Champion Ram may compete for Supreme Grand Champion. Sheep competing for this award will be judged on percentage of excellence for their breed.
