Open Sheep Show Rules and Regulations

Entry Fees: See individual show rules for entry fee information. Entries received after July 15, 2008 , may not be listed in the Show Programs.

Exhibit and Sale: Those wishing to bring animals to exhibit and perhaps to sell, but not for show, may apply for an exhibit booth space/pen. Please refer to prices in the individual show entry forms. A maximum of 4 animals is allowed per pen. Space for these animals will be assigned pending availability of barn space after show animals have been accommodated. All sales will be handled by private treaty

No product sales will be allowed in the livestock show/exhibit booth area. All retail sales must be conducted from a vendor booth in the designated vendor areas.

Return of Fees: No Entry Fees will be returned after the entry deadlines. See individual show rules.

Health Rules: IMPORTANT - READ CAREFULLY . No animals may be unloaded without clearance from the Lambtown Veterinarian. Any animal with signs of poor health or infectious disease must be removed from the grounds immediately! Animals shipped with suspect animals may also be subject to removal. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in expulsion from the fairgrounds and fees will be forfeited.

Check In: Check in will be from 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2008 until 8:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008. All animals must be checked in and penned during this time. Pen space will be assigned by a Lambtown representative. A maximum of 4 animals per pen is allowed. Tack space will be available at additional charge if space allows. Please keep aisles clearand your pens neat.

Provisions: Animal owners must provide their own hay, feed, bedding and containers for feed and water. No hay, feed, bedding will be provided or available on site, though Higby’s Feed Store will be open 8 am - 6 pm, and is located just 3.1 miles north of the Fairgrounds.

Cleanliness: All stalls, pens and alleys must be cleaned no later than 9:00 a.m. daily, and must remain clean until designated release times. Manure and soiled bedding must be deposited in designated areas by 9:00 a.m. each day (not in front of pens or aisleways). Pathways, approaches and areas surrounding stalls must be kept clear at all times for convenience of Spectators. Animals must be kept thoroughly groomed, cleaned and in show condition at all times.

Shepherd’s Award: The Shepherd’s Award shall be given at the end of the Festival to the consignor presenting his/her sheep in the most attractive manner throughout the festival. Farm signs and promotional material should be used. This award is donated by Colleen Simon, Fiber Confections, Vacaville, CA.

Release Time: All animals will be released at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Animals stalled in the barns may bereleased earlier, if approved by Lambtown Staff. Failure to observe this rule will result in a forfeiture of premiums.

Show Committee: The Show Committee reserves the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and classifications and to arbitrarily settle all matters questioned or disputed.

Responsibility: The Lambtown, USA Festival is not responsible for damage or loss while on the Fairgrounds.

Dogs: No Dogs will be allowed in any building housing livestock at any time! Please leave your pets at home . Stock dogs will be under close control and supervision at all times, and are allowed at the Sheepdog Trials area only. Thank you for your cooperation.

Judging:

1. All sheep in classes will be judged on their breed characteristics.

2. Flock numbers must be used to identify all entries. Registration numbers may NOT be used as identification numbers. Flock numbers and breeder's initials, name, or association prefix shall be on commercially used tags attached to the ear, or tattooed in the ear for yearlings and lambs bred by exhibitor.

3. An exhibitor may not use the same flock number on more than one animal during any two consecutive calendar years.

4. Lambs must show lamb's teeth.

6. Supreme Champions: The champions in each division may compete for Supreme Champion Ram and Supreme Champion Ewe. Sheep competing for this award will be judged on percentage of excellence for their breed. Judging and awards for these competions will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 5:30 p.m.
