KNITTING WORKSHOP
"IT'S IN THE BAG" with Colleen East and Mary Arnold, of Conjoined Creations A purse/bag kit will be provided. In this class you will start your knitted bag of hand dyed wool and Soy Silk blend yarn. Kits include cotton lining fabric. Instructors will supply the sewing machines and instruction;, you will complete the lining - ready to sew in the bag when you finish it. Instructors will assist you in starting the knitting, and sewing the lining. Class size limited to 20. Student needs to bring scissors, straight pins, knitting needles (size TBD), tape measure, notepad and pencil, glasses if you need them.

SPINNING AND KNITTING NOVELTY YARNS FOR A SCARF with Nancy Jane Campbell
Sunday, July 31 - 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Madden Hall, Dixon May Fair Grounds. Boucles, cables, gimps and turkish knots, encasement, frosted, beaded, and feathered. If you think spinning consists of two-ply fine or the "homespun" look is what handspinning is all about, this is the class for you. It's all about making yarns that are structurally strong but have decidedly unusual surfaces. We'll also look at yarns with unusual purposes (haven't you always wanted to make a goat-hair camel's nose ring?) and we'll investigate non-typical spinning materials. No. of Participants: 15 students. Students should be able to spin a continuous thread and have working relationship with their wheel. Equipment: Students should bring their wheels with all its parts and extra drive band material. Hand cards/ flicker/ dog brush/ wool combs. Do NOT go out and buy anything if they don't already have it. Instructor has enough to share and then you can decide what suits you best. Bring a range of knitting needles for sampling. We will begin a scarf with the yarn you make! Supplies: Instructor provides all the spinning materials. Students should bring any problem fibers they have.

CARING AND HANDLING OF FIBER ANIMALS with Janet Heppler, of Nebo-Rock Textiles Sunday, July 31, 2005 - 9:00 am - 3:00 pm - Madden Hall, Dixon May Fair Grounds.
In this Hands-On workshop, you will learn how to feed, handle and care for sheep, Angora goats and Angora rabbits.
You will actually be handling live animals! You will learn:

WARP SPEED WEAVING, with
Robin Lynde, of
Meridian Jacobs Increase speed, efficiency, and FUN in your weaving. The instructor will and demonstrate lots of techniques for enhancing your weaving enjoyment and skill. You will learn to plan a project, wind warp with a paddle and warp the loom from back-to-front. Weaving with chenille will be discussed and demonstrated. The instructor will help you plan your project and guide you in preparing you warp. Bring your own yarn to use for your warp or purchase from instructor. Instructor will provide handouts A limited number of warping boards will be available, so preregistration is important. If you can bring your own warping frame it would be helpful. Instructor will provide natural colored roving, but colorful hand dyed roving will be available for purchase if you prefer.
