This workshop requires advanced registration to be guaranteed a seat in the workshop. Workshop fee: $45.

The secrets of the blue dye plant indigofera tinctoria are explored in this workshop. Indigo dyeing is done by a unique process, different from other natural dyes. Prepare the indigo vat and dye skeins of yarn and shibori-tied scarves. As the fibers emerge from the vat, watch the color turn from yellow-green to blue right before your eyes! Participants will take home a skein of yarn and a scarf.

Instructor supplies all dyes, latex gloves, mordants, dye recipes, scouring and mordant instructions for future dye sessions, resource list, and other useful handouts.

Participants should bring an apron, and their own gloves if they are allergic to latex. They may bring their own well-washed wool yarn to use after dye samples have been colored. No fleece, roving or other unspun materials, please.
